I feel much pleased to welcome you all to Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, the most prestigious Institution of higher learning of Northern India. Beginning life journey as a school in 1908 at Lyallpur (now in Pakistan as Faislabad ), the College continues to grow impressively, setting standards for others to emulate. This success of the college can be attributed directly to the pioneering spirit and bold vision of Late S.Balbir Singh, our revered President, who exhibited these attributes as early as when he was a student of this college in 1954. I am sure it will serve as a beacon light to my students too. I would like to present some excerpts from his editorial in the college magazine THE BEAS, suggesting the path the college was to follow in the years to come.

"This is the only Institution which can rightly serve the rural areas of Jalandhar. So let us strengthen the Institution by all possible means... Institutions should be above persons... With the college we stand, with its fall we succumb... My heart-felt love and gratitude to this Institution, whose products we are. We part from it as a son parts from his dear mother, with heavy heart. But, Oh dear mother, we pledge to prove your worthy sons!"

This is the finest example of dedication and unflinching commitment to a cause. It his firm conviction and untiring efforts that laid the foundation of the grand destiny of this college. He had a vision for the college that this twinkling little star shines like a full moon. That dream has become tangible and the college has transformed into a university-like college with an enviable international reputation.The college has been successful in its pursuit of excellence in every field, and my dream as its Principal is to fulfil the cherished dreams of Late S. Balbir Singh. Under the able guidance of Governing Council it will be my sincere endeavour to prepare students to face challenges on the global level by providing them with an educational environment that is exciting, motivating, guided, secular and friendly.I trust you will have a great experience here at Lyallpur Khalsa College and I wish you all success.
