Lyallpur Khalsa College , Jalandhar, the biggest premier Institute of Northern India is located in the heart of Jalandhar City . It began its’ life journey 100 years ago at Lyallpur now known as Faislabad in Pakistan . Since 1948 at Jalandhar the college has established itself as a leader in the field of higher education. It is imparting quality education to more than 6000 students including more than 2600 girls and preparing them to meet challenges at global level. Its’ location on the G.T. road near the bus stand and the railway station makes it the most easily accessible college both by road and rail for the local as well as outstation students.

The world class infrastructure of the college provides an ideal ambience for high-quality educational programmes making it the first choice of students in professional, vocational as well as traditional education at graduate and postgraduate level. The College has a wide campus of 28 acres with lush green lawns, well–equipped computerized office and library, internet cyber centre and two dedicated leased lines for internet. The College has 107 class rooms and 26 well–equipped science laboratories and instrument rooms. There are separate blocks for each faculty with sufficient number of classrooms, galleries and faculty rooms with internet facility. All blocks have support-facilities like intercom, purified drinking water, separate washrooms for boys and girls. The college has Student Centre, Xerox facility, gymnasium, post office, ATM, dispensary, book shop, public telephone, two auditoriums, state-of-the-art seminar and conference rooms, two open–air theatre, guest house, residential houses for teaching and non-teaching staff, etc. There are separate hostels for boys and girls built on modern lines.

Research holds the key to success and development in this knowledge-centric modern world. To facilitate research the college has the distinction of running three research centers - Centre of Historical Studies, Centre for Guru Granth Sahib Studies and Punjab Centre for Migration Studies. These centers hold seminars, symposia, and publish monographs based on genuine research.

The College has a fully computerized two-tier library system. Besides the well-equipped two storeyed central library with spacious seating arrangement , which remains open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on all working days. There are departmental libraries maintained by each of the Faculty separately. The library has a good collection of rare study material, national, international journals and biographies in Punjabi, English, Hindi and Urdu. It has collaboration with DELNET (Developing Library Network) for resource sharing and rare material. The material is arranged according to DDC 22nd latest edition, and provides open shelf system with Bar Coding facility. The library provides low cost Internet and reprography services to the users. Through DELNET, College library is connected to 1091 Libraries (900 Regional, 176 library with in Delhi (metropolition city) and 15 overseas libraries).

The Placement cell has earned respect both of the recruiting agencies as well as student community through its professionalism and dedication to recruitment, employment, training and putting them on the pathway to exciting global employment opportunities or further studies. Many firms of international eminence as Wipro Technologies, Wipro, Mahindra British Telecom, Dell, etc. and have have visited our college and have arranged for professional industrial trainings in C-DAC, PUNCOM, Spice, and SCL for our IT students.

The Youth Welfare Department too has been working with a student focused approach to ensure for all the students a supportive individualized and innovative learning experience for all the students. It has assisted thousands of young people in preparing them to face the challenging world of the 21st century. The NSS and the NCC wings of the College have formal extension programmes. A wide range of activities are undertaken ranging from helping victims of the natural calamities to tree plantation and cleanliness drives in villages, from blood donation and pulse polio immunization camps to programmes in social awareness.

The name of Lyallpur Khalsa College has become synonymous with excellence in sports. This eminence is the result of its distinctive record in games and sports. The world class infrastructure with well-maintained playgrounds, quality training and coaching, well equipped conditioning hall for fitness purposes and a host of facilities including scholarship, special incentives and free hostel and mess facility, provide sportsmen an ideal platform for university, state and national level competitions. As a result the college has to its credit a list of alumni who have excelled at national and international level. S Ajitpal Singh and S.Pargat Singh have received the Padamshri, five are Arjuna awardees, fifteen of them are Olympians and international players. The College has created history by winning the Teja Singh Samundari overall trophy in sports of Guru Nanak Dev University with record points for the past nine successive years. In an attempt to provide the latest and upgraded infrastructure the college has signed MOU with Hockey Academy of Punjab & Sind Bank to promote Hockey in the region. Separate new block for sportsmen has been constructed in the boys hostel.
